Animation - Stella Bell

The animation was created using after effects, I tried to make each of the layers different. I wanted the animation to be fast paced and moving.

Final Book

The book was later called 7 as it hold seven stories of cancer patients. I thought it would be better call it 7 rather then ‘ The most important thing in illness is never to lose heart’ because the number seven is short and snappy, it draws the audience in and it makes them think why I called it seven.

Final Stories - Isaac Hussain

This is one my stories that was presented in the final book, the story is about a patient who suffers from burkitt’s lymphoma. The first few images shows how I broke down the story into layers which was later printed onto different types of paper including acetate and embossing card.

(please note that the patient name has been changed to protect his identity)

Final Stories - Dawn Morgan

Sketchbook scan 7 - Stories

After researching David Carson’s and Rob Ryan’s work, I applied some of their style into my work. Here are images of 3 stories that I was working on. I really liked how David Carson laid out the typography, it was very inspirational. So I decided to lay out my type in a similar way but the difference was my work was in layers, the layers were different types of paper composited in front of each other. The different types of paper was the different patients.

I also cut out bits of the letters in the story which Rob Ryan inspired me to do. The letters being cut out makes the design more effective as it reveals the layer behind giving the audience a peak of what will come up next.

Rob Ryan

Here are examples of Rob Ryan’s work, I really like how he used cut outs to make typography and imagery. Rob has been a huge influence in my project because some of the elements in my story will be cut out in a similar style. I also like how detail and accurate his work is. The stories that I will be producing has no imagery its all type, the bit that I will cut out must be precise and accurate so the typography stays legible.
